Poor School Conditions Raise Concerns for Tribal Children in Balaghat?
In Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, tribal children are facing serious problems due to the poor condition of their school. The school roof is in a very bad condition, with parts of the ceiling appearing to fall down and rainwater leaking inside the building.
According to local residents, they have been hearing for the last five years that a new school building will be constructed, but the school has still not been built.
Does this mean that the children of Balaghat do not have the right to study in a safe and proper school?
At present, around 60 to 70 students are reportedly studying together at an Anganwadi centre. How can so many children study properly in such a limited space?
The school also has a washroom, but it is in very poor and unhygienic condition, and the washroom door is reportedly not opening properly. Local people also complain that the mid-day meal provided to the children is of poor quality.
Why are these problems being faced by these tribal children? The Madhya Pradesh government should take this issue seriously and take immediate steps to provide these children with a safe school building, proper sanitation facilities and good-quality mid-day meals.
