Questions Raised Over School Education and Government Responsibility?
Education is one of the most important issues in India, and the government should take greater responsibility for improving the condition of schools across the country.
At present, BJP founder Abhijeet Dipke is reportedly carrying out a “School Theek Karo” (Fix the Schools) campaign, highlighting problems and basic facilities that are lacking in schools. However, the question is: Should such work not primarily be the responsibility of the government?
The BJP is a political party, and there are also people who have questioned whether the “School Theek Karo” campaign is being carried out mainly in BJP-ruled states. According to the statements made by the CJP founder, schools in opposition-ruled states such as Punjab, Karnataka and Jharkhand have also been discussed. He has said that senior officials in these states assured that the problems identified in schools would be addressed.
At the same time, questions have been raised about what happens when members of the campaign visit schools in BJP-ruled states to highlight their problems. The CJP founder has alleged in videos uploaded on X that people associated with the campaign faced opposition and pressure during such visits. These claims should be independently verified.
The bigger question is about the responsibility of the government.
When people vote, they expect their children’s education and future to receive proper attention. Is it wrong for citizens to expect the government to provide good education and the basic facilities required in schools?
If a school needs classrooms, toilets, drinking water, electricity, teachers or other essential facilities, the government should ensure that these basic requirements are fulfilled.
Education should not become a political issue. Every child, regardless of whether they live in a BJP-ruled state or an opposition-ruled state, deserves access to a safe school and quality education.
The question to the BJP and the government is simple: When people vote, is expecting proper education and better school facilities for their children really too much to ask?
